About Derreighter
The Palus Demos project involves smaller, independent farmers and landowners, as well as large trials on larger sites.
The Derreighter demonstrator is located on a family farm near Oughterard Co. Galway. The entire farm is situated on ca. 260ha and was previously used for private turf cutting. The owner is interested in pursuing alternative approaches to land management. Thus the demonstrator (ca. 4.2 ha) will include a range of different crops best suited to the cutover blanket bog landscape. This includes sphagnum, a mix of berries (blueberries and Aronia), bog myrtle, cranberries, and sundew.
